Stranded copper wires are commonly used in many application of connecting audio equipment. Stranded wires offer flex in the cable needed in most cases. For speaker cables, however, solid core has long been a favourite for true audiophile connections from amplifiers to speakers.
If there is only negative point about solid core copper as speaker cable, it is the difficulty to position them due to their rigidity. But at approximately 15awg, the 1.5mm diameter solid core is a good thickness that does not impede the flexibility much while still maintaining a good gauge as a speaker cable.
Now, with the negative part being said, we are left with the (many) plus points (we can say).
Stranded wires can seldom beat solid core in terms of bass – at the most matching it. If you still find the bass is lacking in clarity, a solid core copper speaker cable like this will definitely improve that significantly. And noticed how we describe bass with clarity, when we normally use tight and fast – because bass notes can actually sound defined and clean when one actually hear that being improved. Clarity in the higher frequency to us means the crispiness and sparkles that you can sense. The same is with this clarity of the bass – the solid core copper allows the bass to go so much deeper you can just feel it.
Speaker cables tend to focus on the vocal and midrange (or emphasising one part of the frequency range), when that V-shaped signature actually drowns the two end of the frequency slightly. The solid core copper speaker cable presents a balanced tonality throughout, opening up the sound to such a natural soundstage that all notes of the music are probably played with neutrality and presence, especially in high quality medium. When a piece of music has strong vocal presence, that will be heard with purity. When a piece of music has great composition of instruments together with vocal, the voices will still be heard together with the importance of the rest of instruments as intended. Listening will just be more natural with solid core copper as the enveloping, open sound will draw you in more to feel much more involved.
We build these cables entirely by hand from the raw materials up. Packed in vacuum packages, the 99.999% high purity OFC coils of copper was being handled meticulously and sheathed into pure cotton sleeves, the ultimate choice for high dielectric material in hifi, through the entire length.
After the coils were stretched and wrapped tight in cotton, they were inserted into thick, heat-resistant and high quality heat shrink tubing to hold the cotton and the solid core copper securely in place after shrinking.
The 1.5mm in diameter solid core copper has now been treated into a form of wire nominally 4mm thick in diameter, well insulated and protected. The lengths will then be cut into the required lengths to be twisted and sleeved with pure black PET sleeves as the third and final exterior protection and dampening.
According to budget, there are choices of either terminating them with truly authentic Deltron 840 series (Made in UK) spring-loaded or Furutech FP-200B(G) (Made in Japan) BFA gold-plated banana plugs.
