Description
This cable is for lovers of low AWG gauge size and thick cables for speakers. Using the massive Gotham 58025 PVC Speaker cable that comes with 8 conductors of 2.5mm² each, 4 conductors are twisted to form one big conductor of 10mm² which is about 7AWG.
They do not look out of place for use on huge floorstanding speakers with capabilities of delivering over 6000 watts, if there is any amp that can deliver that much of power. But the need for such high power delivery is no longer a priority in using such thickness of cables, as it is more about the details it can provide. Upon breaking in over 200 hours, the sound is a full extension across the entire frequency, open and uncongested. What you will be expected to hear will be the intricacy of details that could now be unravelled. It is highly suitable to be used on both solid state and tube amps, as Gotham cables have been known for their neutrality and balanced signature from their high purity of OFC strands.
We continue to use CMC banana plugs in this offering with superb construction for robust use while maintaining high quality sound output. Supporting 4 conductors on a banana plug is no easy feat if they are not built tough. CMC banana plugs have no problems at all in having a secure fit at this level of thickness.
Cable divider again is just like all other Gotham speaker cables we have been offering, in using solid metal divider. It will provide superior protection at the breakaway of the cable as well as high-end aesthetics. As much as possible, we reject the use of heat shrinks or insulation tape – a proper machined and sleek divider provides the best possible looking and protection to the cable. Colour and design may subject to change depending on availability.
Bi-wiring can be done for this cable. At speaker end, it will then be 4 terminals of 2 twisted conductors each.
