No more clunky desktop PC for computer digital audio playback. Cooling fans in dekstop computer add interference and noise to audio signal and neither is big internal PSU beneficial for audio playback.

Mini PC is portable, and stripped of all non-essential parts perfect for audio use in a hifi system. Most importantly, it is fanless, so it can be situated within the hifi components with zero noise. Fed with a cleaner power from a Linear Power Supply (LPS), this fanless Mini PC can absolutely improve the digital audio chain as a server or a bridge, depending on one’s configuration.

Intel N100 is efficient and speedy. You do not need i5, i7 or even i3 core to run Roon, IF, you are primarily playing from Tidal or Qobuz with no DSD128 and upsampling. PCM768 and DSD64 will not even max out the 4 efficiency cores of N100. It is really misinformation that Roon Core/Server needs that high performance to run.

Running a light Ubuntu Linux system also meant you can leave it without worries of inconsistent and buggy updates like Windows that also eat unnecessarily into the system resources – so they are optimised purely for audio playback.

Using this as a Roon Bridge is also more cost and performance efficient compared to a RPI4 which is slower and more expensive now from the global shortage that seems more like a scalpel intention.
