Description
Red is the latest product coming from Holo Audio with extreme level of anticipation from audiophiles globally since the end of 2022. Building from the ground up by designing around a Raspberry Pi Compute Module (CM) 4, Red is a highly capable unit only with the best possible performance in mind. It differs from a standard Raspberry Pi because it does not have all peripheral components on board, but has been developed by Holo Audio itself, of course optimised for Audio. The advantage is that it can be used with a lot of software and is therefore versatile.
• Featuring digital input and output options
• Simple setup user-friendly software setup
• Stream Internet radio stations, streaming music services and your own local music library.
• Control music wirelessly with a controller app
• AirPlay2 lets you play music from your wireless device
• DDC – Digital (USB) to Digital (I2S HDMI, Coax BNC, RCA, Optical, AES/EBU) Converter
Jitter and noise is one of the lowest coming from a digital source, as test and reviewed by Golden Sound. With its own OS, the Red OS, which will be continually supported and updated, the product improvement scales along with time.
Measurements from Golden Sound

The Holo RED is the lowest jitter and one of the lowest noise digital sources I’ve tested. Absolutely incredible performance that sets the current benchmark for a streamer or DDC. The fact that this level of performance is achieved at under $1000 is honestly incredible.
Well done Jeff!
Red can be working as either a streamer or a DDC. Connecting to Ethernet is the only way, but best way in terms of quality, in getting the streaming services finding the network. Available streaming services are as below:
• AirPlay 2
• Spotify Connect
• Tidal Connect
• HQPlayer NAA
• UPNP
• Squeezelite
• Scream
Connect USB Out to DAC for decoding and subsequent analogue output.
Connecting USB IN will disconnect the streaming services, rendering it purely as a DDC. The various digital outputs below will be available to be chosen to connect to various DACs of choice:
• 1x I²S HDMI (Holo Audio compatible)
• 1x Coaxial S/PDIF RCA
• 1x Coaxial S/PDIF BNC
• 1x AES/EBU XLR
• 1x Optical Toslink
Switching between the two functions require connection/disconnection of the USB IN, depending on what is the function required, while setting the right option in Device Output under the config page entered through the IP, so Ethernet must be connected for Red to be found in the network.
